Fritz Smith, MD, is a physician, osteopath, cranial osteopath, certified acupuncturist, and founder of Zero Balancing. Known for his groundbreaking work in the integrative medicine field, he developed Zero Balancing in the early 1970s. Before this, he studied at California’s Esalen Institute, where he met British acupuncturist J.R. Worsley and began pursuing knowledge of yoga, spiritual teachings, meditation, quantum physics, and Eastern energy medicine. Smith traveled to England to study with Worsley in 1972, and holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in acupuncture.

Smith developed the Zero Balancing system based on his own observations and experience involving the relationship between body and energy. He has been teaching the Zero Balancing method around the world for decades.

Smith is the author of Inner Bridges: A Guide to Energy Movement and Body Structure and Alchemy of Touch. His biography, Life in the Bones, was authored by David Lauterstein.
