Joan White

Joan White is one of the most accomplished and experienced practitioners of the yoga taught by the late B.K.S. Iyengar, one of India’s greatest masters, with whom she has studied for 41 years. She continues to return to study with the Iyengar family in Pune, India, on an annual basis.

White serves on the ethics committee for the Iyengar Yoga National Association and trains and helps certify others who seek to become teachers of this pure interpretation of classical yoga. She is a contributor to Kofi Busia’s book Iyengar: The Yoga Master, has appeared in Ascent magazine discussing the problems of aging and yoga, and has been interviewed by the BBC and Yoga Journal, among others. White teaches Iyengar Yoga worldwide, as well as locally in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she has been named “Best Philadelphia Yoga Teacher” four times by Philadelphia magazine.
