Pilar Alessandra

Pilar Alessandra, author of The Coffee Break Screenwriter, is director of the On the Page® writing program, host of the popular On the Page Podcast. She began her career as a script reader for Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment and became senior story analyst for DreamWorks. In 2001, she opened the On the Page Writers’ Studio in Los Angeles. 

As a teacher, Pilar has traveled the world, teaching at the London Screenwriting Festival, FilmBase in Dublin, House of Wisdom in Vietnam, and The National Screenwriting Institute in Canada. In Los Angeles, she has trained writers at ABC/Disney, CBS, Nickelodeon, UCLA, and the Los Angeles Film School. Her students and clients have written for The Walking Dead, Lost, House of Lies, Nip Tuck, and Family Guy. They have sold features and pitches to Warner Bros, DreamWorks, Disney, and Sony, and have won the prestigious Nicholl Fellowship and Austin Screenwriting Competition.

Pilar Alessandra was dubbed “The Script Whisperer” by Script magazine, was named "Cream of the Crop" in Creative Screenwriting, and was listed as one of the top 100 "Best People of LA" by LA Weekly.
