Rachel Piazza is a passionate advocate for women. A lifelong athlete, Rachel discovered the power of sports and physical activity at a young age. She is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist with over a decade of experience and a women’s and gender studies professor. 

Combining her strengths as an athlete and scholar, Rachel developed Feminist Self-Defense, an empowerment-based self-defense curriculum that has been featured in numerous publications, including the New York Times and The Economist, and on espnW.

She presents regularly at conferences and for organizations and campuses throughout the United States and has given a TEDx talk on sexist language.
