In the enormous display of over 6o paintings currently on view in the gallery at the Omega Center for Sustainable Living, artist Richard Bruce’s intention is keenly observed in the effulgent process of paint, water, and air. Bruce continually re-enters the field refining his strokes and patterns as they morph and emerge throughout multi-stage drying processes.
The artist finds hidden influences distilled from the grid interpretation often used by abstract expressionists. This body of work referred to as “The Field” connects the artist’s experiences in the natural world to a larger inner plane—where focus, breath, time, and technique form tender narratives.
