Hobbomock: A Guitar Composition

Add to favorites

When guitarist and singer-songwriter Hiroya Tsukamoto was asked to create a piece inspired by a mountain formation in Hamden, Connecticut, called Sleeping Giant, he first hiked its trails and studied its history and legends.

Tsukamoto learned that the now-state park was once a sacred place for the Native American Quinnipiac tribe whose legend about the stone giant, Hobbomock, imparted lessons of kindness and respect for the earth. Tsukamoto chose the Native name as the title of the lyrical piece he performed at Omega.
