This Teachers Studio is intended for authors who wish to deepen their understanding of how book publishing works in order to achieve optimal results.
In this 2-hour live online workshop, we begin with a review of different kinds of publishing available to authors, including self-publishing, traditional publishing, and hybrid publishing, and how to know which of these options is best for you. Next, we cover how to acquire publishing contracts with established publishers, including how to find agents, how to submit queries, and what to include in book proposals. Then, we explore self-publishing, which has evolved greatly over the last few years, including ways to utilize self-publishing for getting your book into bookstores.
Other topics we cover include:
- The importance of good editing and understanding the different levels of editing, including proofreading, copyediting, and content editing
- Creating the best possible title and subtitle for your book
- Sales and marketing, including book launches, local media, and niche-related media
- Understanding distribution and its impact on sales
- Book economics including royalties
This Teachers Studio is appropriate for all levels of authors, experienced or new. There will be at least two question-and-answer sessions.
