Explore how plants communicate meaning through symbolism and creative botanical craft in this hands-on, nature-connected workshop.

Learn from plants as teachers and storytellers guided by horticulturalist and artist Missy V. Bateson.

Plants have expressed meaning in human culture for centuries—through fragrance, form, and the stories we tell about them. In this workshop, we explore how plants communicate symbolism and what these messages reveal about our own relationships with nature.

We spend time foraging thoughtfully on Omega's campus, observing plant characteristics, and learning about the history and emotional language of flowers. Through guided journaling, flower pressing, and small-scale botanical design, participants experience how creativity and nature awareness support deeper connection and reflection. Each person creates a personalized flower journal with pressed specimens and a botanical art piece that expresses their unique perspective.

This workshop welcomes all levels—no gardening or art experience required. Come explore the beautiful ways we communicate and discover the stories waiting quietly in the natural world. Leave with a greater awareness of plant symbolism and sensory interaction with nature, and practices for botanical reflection and care that continue beyond the workshop.
