Omega Family Week delivers something rare—a unique balance of time together and time apart—so every family member can learn, play, and grow.

Letter from Elizabeth Lesser

Dear Family Week friends,

Family Week has been a cherished Omega tradition for more than 30 years, where there's something for everyone. Kids and teens take camps, while grownups are in workshops. And family meals and activities keep everyone connected. Families return year after year to have fun, to make new friends, pursue healing and growth, and to feel the sense of that "village" that it takes to raise children. Over the years, kids and parents alike have told us their one week at Omega as a family (of all sorts of family configurations) is how they think the world should be all the time, for all people, all children, everywhere.

So, whether you have been with us before, or you are new to Family Week and Omega, we welcome everyone.

Love,

Elizabeth Lesser, Omega cofounder

About Family Week

"Summer Camp", "Hudson Valley Camp", "family retreat"

Omega Family Week delivers something rare—a unique balance of time together and time apart—so every family member can learn, play, and grow.

While grown-ups are in workshops, kids are in camps, and then everyone comes together for meals, free time and evening entertainment.

We welcome children of all ages—from little ones to teens—as well as families of all configurations: single parents, two parents, grandparents, all kinds of parents and relations. Families can choose to stay on campus, or at other accommodations of their choice.

Workshops for Adults

Adults choose one workshop, which takes place each morning from 9:30 a.m.-noon and on Monday through Wednesday from 2:30-5:00 p.m.  On Thursday from 2:30-5:00 p.m. take time off to relax or enjoy Dabblers' Delights—informal classes led by workshop teachers and special guests. In the evening, everyone gathers for family entertainment.

Kids and Teens Camps

Kids choose one camp, which takes place every morning from 9:00 a.m.-noon and afternoons from 2:30-5:00 p.m. Please note that Omega has a 10:00 p.m. noise curfew and that all children and teens are expected to be with their families after 11:00 p.m.

Dabbler's Delights

Gather with other adults to enjoy classes in pickleball, learn the joy of play, breathwork, and more. Led by workshop teachers and special guests.

Important Information

Here is some helpful information about Family Week that will make it safe, fun, and enjoyable for everyone.

Quiet Time

We are a community of a variety of ages, including families with small children who go to bed early.  Our campus noise curfew is 10:00 p.m.  All children should be with their families after 10pm.  Teens: You should be with your families after 11:00 p.m. Please leave all public spaces before 11:00 p.m. and head back to your housing very quietly.  Please be sensitive and quiet around camping areas at night.

Lake

Children must be accompanied to the lake by an adult guardian at all times. For the 2025 season, and most likely for the foreseeable future, there is no swimming allowed in the lake. Canoes and kayaks are available. Children may not take kayaks out on their own. Life jackets must be worn in both canoes and kayaks.

Dining Hall

Always accompany your child to the Dining Hall.  Help your children on the food line.  Encourage them to "take what you can really eat." Teach them how to use our bussing area.  Ask them to walk when in the Dining Hall and to take their excess energy outside when finished eating.

Basketball Court

After meal time, children love to play together on the basketball court.  Please keep an eye on your children and help us keep the play safe. Rules are posted at the court. Please go over these with your children.

Traffic

The road between the Main Office and the Café is a public road with a dangerous blind curve.  Please remind your children to stay off the road. Use the interior paths to walk through campus.

No Open Flames or Fires

Please, no candles, incense or any kind of open flames on campus.

Evenings

All the evening programs listed on the schedule are open to kids and adults.  Children may not attend evening entertainment without an adult. Please supervise your children during all evening activities: at concerts, movies, basketball court, café, etc.

Gardens

Look at, stroll through, smell, and enjoy our flowers and vegetable gardens, but please do not pick anything. poison ivy grows abundantly in the woods and at the edges of lawns and fields.  Teach your child what it looks like and to stay away from it.  Deer ticks have been found on campus.  More information on this can be found at Guest Services.

Schedules

Please be on time for your workshop and kids camps.  If your children require that you drop them off and pick them up from their camp, please leave your workshop in due time.  If your child is old enough not to be picked up, be sure you go into the dining hall together.

Disposable Diapers

Please use trash receptacles. Do not ever flush disposable diapers.

Bare Feet

Bare feet are dangerous around campus due to poison ivy, insects, splinters, etc and are NOT allowed in the Dining Hall and Café.

First Aid

Kits are kept in the Main Office, Café, and Dining Hall. If you have need of recommendation for local urgent care facilities see Guest Services.

Kitchen Utensils & Food

All eating utensils should stay in the Dining Hall.  Please do not take food to your room or tents.  The raccoon population is always looking for a tasty evening snack.

Special Information for Teens
  1. Each night, all Omega guests observe "quiet time" from 10:00 p.m. throughout the night. This allows everyone, especially those with young children, to get a good night's sleep.  We're one big community and sound carries easily, so please be aware of the noise level at the lake, on the café deck, and especially around the cabins, dorms, and tents.  All young people, teens included, must be back in their housing, with their parents, by 11:00 p.m.  As you walk home, it is important to keep your voices down.

  2. You are welcome to congregate in the café and on the deck during café hours.  Be aware of the other guests using the space.  Please don't run in the café or on the deck, and keep the noise level down!

  3. Drugs and Alcohol are strictly forbidden on campus.  You and your family will be asked to leave if we discover anyone with these substances. Cigarettes are not allowed in any building or public space.  They are fire hazards in the woods.  We discourage smoking on campus.

  4. If you come to an evening performance and would like to help us keep the little kids who are sitting up front well behaved, we would certainly appreciate your help.  This goes for keeping the peace on the basketball courts after mealtimes as well.  They will listen to your age group more than ours!

  5. If all goes well during the week, we will allow teens to stay up until 11:00 p.m. on Thursday and to have a dance party in Stillwater, run by the Wayfinder staff.  Please get home by 11:30 p.m. and do so very quietly.
