Sister Đẳng Nghiêm is author of Healing: A Woman’s Journey from Doctor to Nun; Mindfulness as Medicine: A Story of Healing Body and Spirit; Flowers in the Dark: Reclaiming Your Power to Heal from Trauma with Mindfulness; and The River in Me: Verses of Transformation.

Trained as a medical doctor at University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, Sister Dang Nghiem became a Buddhist nun in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh in 2000. She is a motivational speaker and an inspiration for anyone who has ever dealt with losses, severe illness, or sexual trauma. 

Sister Đẳng Nghiêm, affectionately referred to as Sister D, lives at Deer Park Monastery in Escondido, California.
